I’m maybe a wee bit ahead of myself, but as Parties begin to think seriously about future Candidates and some even crowing about new political conquests I thought it might be a timely subject.
Vetting in any setting is or should be part of normal Risk Assessment management. No more so than in a setting where interaction with the public, including children, would be part of the job.
I am so pleased to be in a Party that takes vetting very seriously. It has surprised me over the years how many wanting to go into public life think it unnecessary, even run from the prospect!
Maybe we should all check Wikipedia more often, for there lies many a secret of past, present and future would be politicians!!
It’s all about the ‘nuts & bolts’, getting the basics right and getting the right people into the right jobs.
We have all seen what happens in Westminster when they get it wrong. In today’s world of Politics, it seems as if personalities take preference over ability and character.
In big business these days candidates have to go through many hoops and sometimes many interviews before being considered. A friend of mine in the States once showed me the psychological profile paper for their firm…..I didn’t even understand the Qs!😂
My point is, that big businesses protect their image and their profits, so how come when it comes to Politics worldwide all this gets ripped up and only money counts through donations?
How have we come to a place in this country where we just accept lies as the norm?
How can we make decisions built on lies?….we can’t….but we do and we do so because many of us can’t face realities.
To do so would require action and for many that is a bridge too far.
Well here is a reality, if we don’t change the system here in Scotland in 2026, Scotland will become a county within the UK and all the levers we still possess will be gone. Westminster will make sure of that!
We rise now or not at all.
And here is another reality, our Nationalist Government have no plans for achieving Independence……if I am wrong….show me.
The first question of any Candidate seeking to serve this country should be ‘What will you do to help secure Scottish Independence’ …..the rest of the vetting interview will show if they are up to it😂
But seriously, we need the right people, people with integrity standing in our corner.
There is such a group of people in the Liberation Movement giving their time and efforts tirelessly and freely for us.
Lets get behind them 100%

Another excellent ‘on point’ article, Joan.
It’s unbelievable that, in such an important area, the casualties have been the ‘enforced absence/removal’ of honesty/decency/trustworthiness/transparency etc.
Everything that SHOULD be of prime importance for any candidates to possess, is dismissed as unnecessary.
It’s why so many whom you wouldn’t see fit to trust to ‘tell you the time’, end up in roles which affects all of us .. and not in a good way!
We need to be free of the Foreign English Colonialist Oppressors
and then, we must ensure our politics and politicians are vetted and held to a high standard, for the positions they hope to hold.
If elected and they fail to uphold the standards WE expect, they will be removed.
We can’t allow any form of “mini WM” and must ensure our Scottish Parliament is moulded to the model to suit WE Sovereign Scots.
