Entitlement or Enlightenment?

I suppose it is a pretty fair assumption to say that the people at this table feel ‘entitled’. Sad to say that also includes the PM and our FM.

When ‘entitlement’ creeps into politics, the focus changes from the country and others to self and party. And the longer they cling to power the greater that entitlement is.

It doesn’t seem to matter that policies and decisions recently made have been disastrous, that feeling of entitlement still remains.

We have a choice to make next year, it’s a choice between continuity and what could be.

On Saturday I ventured across to the Eagle Inn at Coatbridge, new territory for me!

I sat and listened to many good speakers, Tommy was in great form. Amongst the things that resonated with me was the power of a Plebiscite Election. I don’t think people really understand what it is or the authority it brings with it.

So, what is a Plebiscite Election and how can it bring us closer to Independence?

plebiscite

plebiscite is a direct vote by eligible voters to decide an important public question, such as a change to the constitution, secession, or a similar issue of national or regional importance.

In short, it is used as a form of unofficial referendum.

Now, when I use the word ‘unofficial’ that doesn’t mean it is useless, on the contrary it shows the WILL of the people on a specific matter.

It may not be legally enforceable but in my view it would be ‘morally enforceable’! If we showed the world how strong the YES vote really is, this would surely enhance the Decolonisation initiative in the future. It would also cause a huge embarrassment to Westminster.

Our mission now, should be to educate people on this matter and rekindle the passion we had in 2014.

Press the reset button now.

Change will not happen through some kind of mystical miracle, it can only happen through us.

Be the change you want to see!

My freedom is bound up in yours! Only Unity can make this miracle of freedom happen.

Don’t underestimate People’s power.

People are rising over several issues, we need to rise again over Independence. That is our single most important issue. We can do nothing without it.

When talking Independence also talk Plebiscite!!

The one thing that would be indesputable after the next electoral event should be the total numbers of votes cast, both for the individual constituencies and for the party list votes.

The total number of seats won for independence aligned candidates should also be unarguable.

The total numbers of votes given to independence aligned candidates will be published.

It is what we say about this information BEFORE the election that can affect how that newly generated information may be treated AFTER the election.

We already know that the unionist politicians and media will adopt a ‘they win both ways’ treatment.

If we ‘fail’ to achieve whatever target we have set for ourselves then they will say the we have had our chance, that was it, and we lost. Independence is now ‘off the table’ for some as yet undefined but outrageously long period of time.

If we DO achieve the level of support for whatever our stated electoral target was then they will of course rubbish the whole idea.

An election is not a referendum.

    Look at the low turnout!

Hundreds of thousands of people did not turn out to vote!

Look at the number – it is a lot LESS than the official number for those who voted NO in the 2014 referendum. The new smaller election number cannot possibly outweigh the existing official larger Referendum number!

You cannot just assume that the people who voted for (insert a populist policy like ameliorating child poverty) voted for SEPARATION.

All of this is entirely predictable.

We can avoid all of these predictable and effectively insurmountable issues by being a little more clever.

Instead publicise that every single one of peoples votes in the upcoming election will count towards giving back to our Scottish Parliament the powers that any parliament should rightfully have.

The power to decide for itself.

Our parliament is very popular amongst our indigenous people.

Polling shows that a substantial majority say they are already favourable to increasing the powers of the parliament

Say we are going to be righting this wrong.

Everybody already knows that the party that ‘wins’ the election gets to put bills through parliament and enact the proposals that were in their manifesto.

    This is the winning strategy.

Even if we don’t ‘win’ by achieving the (and it is a very high bar) large number that is a majority of votes cast, we will NOT have opened the possibility for the unionists to say we lost the referendum on Independence. Because we didn’t and we haven’t.

We will have won or lost the parliamentary vote(s).
