The slow death of democracy…

I wrote yesterday about the two-party system we have in this country, and how it forces people down a particular political path. Then I read of something even scarier when used to extreme.

In America they have the same system and they sure know how to use that power. I read of a small town in Texas which has been devastated by the floods but guess what? They cannot access any funds for recovery unless……wait for it…..they sign a card supporting Israel!

If ever there is a place where Democracy has died, it is the USA.

Could that kind of thing happen over here?

Why not?

We have a goverment who are becoming very adept at changing the rules to suit its objective. They also love to rewrite history…but then we know that don’t we?

Hansard is supposed to be a legal record of what is said in Parliament. But now even that can be changed on almost a weekly basis.

What next…..editing official media coverage?

Democracy dies when voters cannot access the information they need to make informed decisions.

Democracy dies when large conglomerates are allowed to take over large swathes of land, build fences and make their laws within those fences. They become mini countries where secrets abound.

Openness is a democratic virtue.

Direct Democracy is about transparency which is miles away from what we have now.

Direct Democracy does not force anyone down any particular path.

Direct Democracy does not coerce anyone to do anything.

The parties that have signed up to Liberate Scotland also hold those beliefs.

The polls show there is an appetite for Independence but at ground level few activists feel inclined to activate😴

Of course, the summer holidays are upon us, so we must make September become lift-off time!

Now is the time for forming stratergies and timetables. There is a battle to be won and we must make sure that come May 7th next year we are ready to take our place at the top table. Not just take our place but be in a position of strength.

Starmer has plans for Scotland but not the ones we hope for. He cannot afford to let the world see Scotland outperforming England in any arena, so we must be closed down. Grangemouth was just the start!

We need to pull together to save what is left of Scotland and it will take all of us to do it.

Don’t wake up on May 8th and say.….’ if only’.

Wake up and say….’ YES WE DID IT’.
