So, everybody who said Kwartengs Policy of cutting the higher earnings tax last week was right are now saying his U-turn is right!
U-turns are not wrong but when you fight so aggressively to defend a policy then dump it the next day it says more about the person or people than it does about the policy itself.
The fact is this Tory government doesn’t have a stable fiscal policy, instead, we have policy made on the hoof reacting daily to the markets. It’s almost as if someone wakes up in the morning with some bright idea and they just run with it.
The ground beneath our feet isn’t just moving it’s shaking. There is no stability and you can see the uneasiness within the public at large as they walk head down deep in thought wondering what new horror tomorrow may bring.
What horrifies me most is the fact that neither Truss or Kwarteng seem embarrassed or remotely bothered about their mishandling of our finances. There is a complete lack of self-awareness or humility. Every mistake or ill-thought decision made reduces the pounds in our pockets, not theirs!
If there was a prize for being more stupid than stupid then they would surely win that prize.
All the experts are saying for the first time ever in Tory history, they can’t fix the problem left by Boris, but the reality is it goes a lot further back than Boris.
Yes, Labour left a lot of debt but in the 12 years of Tory rule, this has massively increased and is now out of control. Many are now realising that Brexit has been the main contributor. Mainly in the way it has been handled or should I say mishandled.
The Great British ideology of entitlement has sunk HMS Britannia.
